God

The following is from an e-dialogue I'm having with a friend about god. I think about this subject a lot these days.

Actually my favorite bit about god comes from a dialogue with Krishnamurthi where he ask his audience "what is god?"

The replies ranged from, "the universal one, the creator, pure love, pure energy, pure light, the universe etc."

He replied, "I am surprised not one of you said I don't know! which is the correct answer!" I don't really feel the need to explain anything on the subject myself. I don't care for concepts, science, religion or any of it. The mystery is enough for me, and I'm happy to leave it just that.

One Rabbi was speaking of atheist and their adamant dis-belief in god. He thought the question was wrong,"do you believe in god?"
The question can be "have you ever felt the presence of god?". That opens the dialogue by not starting with a conclusion. We've all experienced things we will never be able to explain, and we've all felt things that we can't explain. So for me, I just like to remain open. I find the atheist as silly as the religious zealots. A declaration of disbelief is a declaration of belief in something, and half these cats are just as righteous about their beliefs even trying to impose them on others.

So the pros and antis all start with a conclusion, to me this is where the problem lies, there is no room for exploration. Silly humans. If we go with our inherent feelings, we will not be steered wrong. Trouble with religion whether it's muslim, christian, jewish, satanist or atheist, is there is such suppression of feelings. Shame and guilt really serve no purpose. We are supposed to make plenty of mistakes, to me that's why we got kicked out of the garden! What is life without curiosity and the occasional trainwreck? Maybe the garden is nature, where we are trying to return to? "Our souls will always turn to the light like a flower turns to the sun" said Khalil Gilbran. I like that. We are so disconnected from our own true nature. Nature is feeling. Nature should keep us in a state of awe!
And it's where we ultimately return to.

peace, jb
